BARE BONES UPDATE

Bare Bones Theater Company presented the latest in our series of summer productions, begun in August 2004 with Nightmares and Daymares – our first evening of short plays produced outside of our regular classroom showcases. The impetus for this summer’s offering was a repackaging of our well-received Stroppel and Bones: nine comic scenes by Long Island playwright Frederick Stroppel, performed May 10 at the Posey School to an enthusiastic audience that included the playwright himself.

The success of our Posey show led the Huntington Repertory Company to invite us to co-produce a version at Tello Restaurant in Huntington, as part of their long tradition of producing exciting dinner theater (which included our own production of The Dining Room in 2002). A selection of the original nine scenes was packaged as Six by Stroppel, and the pianistic finesse of Isabella Eredita was added to the mix for extra strut and style. The show was presented for four performances on July 13, 14, 22, and 23. Featured in the cast were Sherri and Jeff Bennett, Teresa Bolz, Jen Coppo, Mari Curzio, Jennifer Cusumano, Justine Harrison, Charlotte Koons, Saundra Lennon, Gene Lepanto, Dan Mitchell, Bill Poulos, Drew Renkewitz, and Frank Zinghini.

Our next semester of acting classes for adults begins after Labor Day, with registration scheduled for the evenings of Wednesday and Thursday, September 7 and 8, 7:30 – 9:30. Call 631.757.9616 for an appointment. Please consider joining us this fall, especially the many among you who have sat in our audiences in the past thinking "Yeah, I could do that!"

DANCE

August 21 at 12:00 pm

At Art in the Park

The Posey Dancer presents -   A Day in the Life

This will be an introduction of the Posey Dance Repertory Company to Northport, we as a company felt the need to express ourselves, our history and our art. Our art is the understanding of expression through movement, how it relates to us and our surroundings. We have configured a concert of old and new pieces to show diversity of a Posey dancer. Through style, grace, personality and passion the Posey dancer is of virtuous stature that can only be revealed through their dance.
