Dennis Tannenbaum, owner of the Northport Theater and Isabella Eredita - Johnson, chairman of the Northport Arts Coalition were recently given a tour of the historic Patchogue Theatre for the Performing Arts by Patchogue Village Trustee, Jack Krieger and Theater board members Christopher Capobianco and Nancy Duncan. The 1200 seat theatre, located on Main Street in downtown Patchogue, was opened in 1923 and served as a vaudeville house for many years, later becoming a popular area movie theatre. It was purchased and renovated to it's original grandeur in the mid-1990s by the Incorporated Village of Patchogue and is operated by a non-profit organization. Mr. Tannenbaum plans to renovate the Northport Theater for use as an artistic and civic asset to the community and with the help of the Patchogue board members, he and Ms. Johnson were able to glean new insight into ways that the Northport Theater can produce successful programs and provide a welcoming atmosphere to cooperating arts organizations.
