MUSIC

The new Northport Community Band (www.ncb.homestead.com) website offers a wealth of information – an About Us section, a roster of playing members, a list of the group’s sponsors, photos from the 2005 concert season, helpful links, directions to the bandstand (including accommodations for boaters and a list of local eateries) and a link for making programming suggestions, inquiring about sponsorships and obtaining media information. As summer approaches, the Concert Schedule page will provide specific information about concert dates, a programming overview and concert programs (which will be posted a day or two before each concert). Bob, Don and the members of the band look forward to seeing area music lovers during the group’s 2006 summer season and hope concertgoers will find the website to be a valuable resource.

A new play reading group is forming in Northport.  It will meet periodically to do unrehearsed performances of a variety of scripts.  By changing the cast throughout the reading, several actors can participate.  Audience members are welcome. There is no charge.  Our first reading will be of the Terrence McNally play “Lips Together, Teeth Apart,” a riveting comedy about a brother and sister and their spouses attempting to celebrate a 4th of July weekend on Fire Island, while fighting the uncertainty of their affluent habits and petty prejudices.

If you are interested in either reading or just attending, please contact Jo Ann Katz, jak@cosmeticmall.com for further information.
