HAPPENINGS ON MAIN STREET
July 6 - The ever popular singer/songwriter/recording artist Annie Mark will perform. Annie and her Willie Nelson look-alike guitar have graced stages from Nashville to New York City, the Bahamas and even a castle in Ireland. Annie enjoys performing a wide variety of musical styles: folk, country, rock, and blues, as well as her own repertoire of heartfelt inspiring originals. Her debut self titled CD was recently featured on the radio on WBAB’s Homegrown Program. Annie Mark has been a featured live solo performer at the Huntington Folk Society’s “Hard Luck Cafe”.
July 13 - A small girl with a large guitar, Rorie Kelly will rock your sox off. Her lyrics are extremely personal, her singing extremely emotional and she breaks guitar strings approximately every five seconds. She hopes to save the world through song and good intentions. Rorie has performed at the Javits Center and been podcasted several times by Acoustic Long Island. Her past credits include organizing a women’s concert series around Long Island and a local Musicians for Peace weekend in April 2005. Get ready for some hard, percussive guitar.
July 20 - Miller’s Crossing Bluegrass Band prides itself on the original material each member brings to the band’s repertoire. They play bluegrass the way they feel it and the result is a fresh outlook on the music while not getting too far away from its roots. All members of the group, Chris Maloy on rhythm guitar, Marjorie Kelting on rhythm and singing lead, Ronnie Feinberg on fiddle, Terry McGill on banjo and Patrick Falco on bass, grew up with bluegrass in their veins. Recently featured at the Patchogue Theater for the Performing Arts, Miller’s Crossing will bring bluegrass to Happenings playing many original songs from their “Adirondack Rail” CD.
July 27 Teacher and singer/songwriter Connie Gillies teams up with jazz and pop singer Alice Weiser in a Constant Wonder of children’s songs in jazz format that make both children and adults want to join in. And they do, with hand puppets and other fun toys. Connie and Alice first performed original children’s songs in Happenings 2002. They continue to encourage children’s curiosity in the animal world around them, while fostering a concern for the fragile environment they live in. Join in the educational antics of Constant Wonder and learn some interesting facts about life around us. Children, it’s okay to bring your parents too.
