The Event:  Select artists will be invited to paint within the Village of Northport at designated locations on June 20th and 21th.  At the end of the second day they will submit one painting for a silent auction/exhibition to be held June 22nd at LaMantia Gallery. An information tent for artists and observers will be set up during the event. The Event will be held rain or shine.

 

Sales:  All sales made during the 3 day event will be subject to a 70/30 split, 70% to the artist and 30% to benefit the Northport Arts Coalition.  All sales will be collected by the Arts Coalition and checks will be mailed to the individual artists within 30 days.       

 

Eligibility:  All plein air artists of the region working in two dimensional painting and drawing media are welcomed to apply. Participants will be selected by jury.

 

Entry Fee:   $30 per artist. $25 for Northport Arts Coalition members. Entry fee is non-refundable.

 

Submissions:  To be considered for participation please submit 3 examples of plein air work for review. Submissions should be in jpeg format on disc (no smaller than 640 x 480) or high quality photos and mailed to The Northport Arts Coalition. If you want photos returned, please include a self stamp addressed envelope with sufficient postage. (Remember, ability will be judged by submitted examples so the quality of submissions is crucial.) Accepted artists whose completed painting does not represent the quality of the original submission will not be allowed to participate in the silent auction/exhibition. Include the appropriate fee, completed and signed entrance application as well as a photo of yourself and brief (paragraph) bio in typed form. Submissions must be received by May 30th to be considered for jurying. Notification: All artists selected will be notified by June 6th.

Details: This event will be held rain or shine and entrance fee is non-refundable. Locations for painting will be chosen by the artist based on designated painting locations (some flexibility will be considered), which will be assigned out on a first come basis on the first day of painting. Artwork submitted for the silent auction must be completed on site during the two days of painting. Painting must be submitted framed. Work done on paper must be matted with a professional presentation (white or off white matt and behind glass). All work must be ready to hang.

 

All work eligible for the auction must be finished and framed and handed in to LaMantia Gallery prior to 4:30pm on Saturday. Exhibition and auction hours on Sunday will be 12pm-4pm. Unsold paintings are to be picked up by the end of gallery hours on the day of the auction.
